Uchiha Itachi is a prominent character from the anime and manga series Naruto Shippuden. He first appears in the original Naruto series, but his full backstory and importance are revealed in Shippuden.

Itachi was a prodigy of the Uchiha clan, known for his exceptional skill and intellect from a young age. He became an ANBU operative at a young age, showcasing his combat abilities and tactical thinking.

He is most known for his involvement in the Uchiha clan massacre, a tragic event where he eliminated his entire clan, save for his younger brother Sasuke. This act was carried out under orders from Konoha's leadership in order to prevent a potential coup d'état that could lead to a civil war.

Following the massacre, Itachi became a rogue ninja and joined the Akatsuki, a criminal organization. He acted as a spy for Konoha from within the organization, working to protect the village from threats and ensure Sasuke's safety. Despite his actions, he remained misunderstood and hated by his brother for a long period.
